Lion of the Sun
Sorry I've been quiet recently. I am up to my eyeballs in DIY. We're having a new downstairs toilet and a new carpet in the living/dining room, so it seemed wise to redecorate at the same time. Last week was mostly spent finding temporary homes for hundreds of books, models, articles of furniture, etc, and then preparing the walls for paint. This week we're all high on paint fumes and the the toilet is coming along nicely. I'm hoping to have everything 'shipshape and Bristol fashion' again by the middle of next week - just in time to disappear off on holiday - so there'll be even more time with no blog entries.
I'm typing this lying on the living room floor - no seats to sit on and no computer desk at the moment, just carpet underlay!
Consequently I feel in need of/deserving a treat, so I have ordered myself a Republican Roman 'legion deal' from Aventine Miniatures... Yes, shortly I intend to start on my next project - Pyrrhus versus Rome. Keith at Aventine Miniatures is absolutely fantastic to deal with - customer service at Aventine really is second to none. It's a real pleasure to be able to put some business his way, having previously only bought three of their Sassanid elephants.
In other news, Harry Sidebottom has very kindly invited me to the launch party for his new Marcus Clodius Ballista novel "Lion of the Sun". Fortunately, it coincides with travelling south for our summer holiday, so I shall be able to attend. I'm not really a party person, but I've never been involved in a book launch before, so it'll be an interesting new experience.
