Iranian nomad cavalry
Hello all!
At last I have finished the Iranian nomad cavalry. I quite like them now that they're done, but somehow they didn't 'grab me' while I was painting them - it's taken real determination to see them through to the bitter end. I don't know why, but I just didn't enjoy painting them.
The figures are, as usual, from A&A Miniatures. A&A supplied their large 'wicker' shields with them, which I thought inappropriate for cavalry, so I substituted some more of the 'Sea Peoples javelinmen' shields from Miniature Design Studio - I think they worked out quite well. The figures are subtly different from both the Sassanid infantry, and the Kurdish javelinmen, despite having similarities to both. 'Dust-coloured' hats mark them out as different. The shields look, superficially, the same as the Kurds', but they are actually different colours - not easy to see in the photos though. More pictures can be seen in the Sassanid Photo Album.
