Two to go...

Parthian Horse Archers

Well, that's another unit down, and only two to go - Sasanian Clibanarii (super-heavy cavalry), and Roman lanciarii (javelin-armed legionaries - I think - their exact status and equipment is a bit controversial!).  Oh yes, and a standard-bearer for the Romans!

I've done a unit of Parthian horse archers because the Parthians didn't cease to exist when the Sasanians took over - they just became one of the many contingents in the Sasanian army.  I quite like these figures, though painting them was a bit of a trial - I really struggled to find colours that I liked.  I didn't want them to wear too much white, or they'd look too much like Sasanian levies, nor did I want them too colourful, or they'd end up looking like the Savaran (Clibanarii), which I intend to be very pretty!  Nor did I want much red on them, or I might mistake them for Romans.  I think I've succeeded fairly well.

I'm not sure that links show up very well using this page template, so in case you don't spot the link to the photos above, the two photos are linked to here and here.
