Transfers for Warlord Figures
Sorry I've been so quiet so far this year - I promise that I haven't made a New Year's resolution to give up blogging! It has all just been a bit busy and 'real lifey', alas. But now I seem to have a couple of hours free, so I thought I'd update you on progress.
I have been painting some Early Imperial Roman figures for Warlord Games. You might be able to guess their identity from the image of the Little Big Men Studios transfers opposite. I'm just waiting for the transfers to arrive so I can finish the figures off. They probably won't appear on my blog until Warlord have posted them in their newsletter. They're lovely figures though - possibly the nicest metals Warlord have made yet. More when I can tell you more - I don't want to let any felines out of their sacks before I'm supposed to!
As well as painting figures, I've been hard at work on the army guides for AVGVSTVS to AVRELIAN. It is a lot of work, and progress feels very slow indeed. Often I have to read acres of source material to get one useful fact. I'm careful with money, so tend to use on-line translations of the primary sources which are in the public domain. They're public domain because their copyright has expired - i.e. they're pretty old, and the English tends to be a bit 'stilted' (though very correct!) and so not that easy to read. But it would cost me an arm and a leg to buy hard copies of all the sources I've consulted so far.
I'm hoping that AVGVSTVS to AVRELIAN will be released this year - with any luck during the first half of the year. I'm currently in discussion with Rich Clarke (of Too Fat Lardies) about all sorts of issues - not least among them being that he wants to play a game or two with me before giving the project the green light - but also dealing with all sorts of publishing-related issues.
