Roman Infantry Archers

Here is my latest unit, painted on a whim rather than following my 'master plan': a unit of Roman archers.  Two bigger photos can be found in the Third Century Roman Photo Album.  They were painted by all my usual methods, using my usual Roman colours, so nothing remarkable at all.

The shield transfers are home-made - LBMS's sheets for the A&A Miniatures range don't include any transfers for the small round shields.

I have also almost finished adding three troopers to my Roman cavalry ala - to bring it up to 15 figures (or almost equivalent to a full-strength quingenary ala), but I'm waiting for a few more transfers to arrive.  I've also painted up some sabot bases for them, rather like those I used on my earlier Romans and Ancient Britons - see this link for example.  Photos to follow once I get the shields finished.

I am just pondering what to paint next - the Shahanshah's elephant, or a unit of Savaran super-heavy cavalry?  I've got a wee bit of time to decide - I don't want to start them until I get the Roman cavalry squared away, and it looks as though tomorrow is going to be far too busy - probably no time for hobbies.
