Following an exchange of emails with Tricks and Laurence, organisers of the Partizan shows at Kelham Hall, Newark, it appears that I shall probably be putting on a game at this year's 'Other Partizan' on 5th September. It'll involve Sassanids, 3rd Century Romans and the rules Col and I are writing.
So, I've got lots to do. I need to sort out the terrain - I've done the hills, but I need to finish off the palm trees, make some more areas of rough ground, perhaps a wadi, some patches of 'soft sand', etc. i need to paint a few more figures - I want to do some skirmishers (lanciarii?) for the Romans, and maybe some slingers - and maybe a unit of Palmyran 'numeri'. I also think I need some more infantry, archers and possibly more light cavalry for the Sassanids, because they're in danger of being swamped under the advancing tide of Romans.
And I've got to get the rules sorted, at least far enough to play-test properly, and print off proper versions of the cards, etc. Oh, and, minor point, decide on (and test!) stats for each of the troop types involved.
So, if you want to avoid any possibility of contact with a lunatic and his toys, stay away from this September's Partizan! If, on the other hand, you think your sanity will cope with it, I'd be happy to see you. Heck, you might even get roped into playing!
